Back in the USA

I am so grateful that I was able to do all the traveling that I did this past year and look forward to posting about all the awesome places I visited over the next few months as time allows. For now though I’ve been back in the US just under two weeks and am focusing on getting organized here.  I haven’t been in one place for an entire week since leaving London, so I think it will take a bit for it to hit me that being here is anything more than another temporary stop. Once I start working or own more than two pieces of furniture it might start to seem real.

For now its nice to have my cat back and that I will be able to drive home and spend Thanksgiving with my parents and sisters for the first time in almost a decade!

Max made it to Michigan / Back to Dance on the Brain

My cat made it safely to my parents house in Michigan. Thank you everyone who supported me in worrying about his well-being. I heard he was fine, healthy, but timid on arrival, which is not his usual MO but I’m sure he will feel more comfortable and be back to hissing at people left and right in no time.

Now I’m able to get back to working on my project, which means I have to figure out what I’m doing with my project. I’m using some cool video editing software, but it almost gives me too many options. I have such a learning curve adding this element but its fun at the same time. One of the things I’m having problems with is getting the video I’ve made to upload to either YouTube or Vimeo so you’ll just have to imagine what it might be for now.

Max (aka I am a crazy cat lady)

Today my cat Max is flying from San Francisco to Detroit.  I don’t get nervous to fly myself but I’m very nervous about my cat making it safely across the country. I know what’s going on when I get on a plane and do it by choice. On the other hand, Max gets frustrated when he is in his carrying case for ten minutes on the way to the vets office.

Don’t worry, he’s not really traveling in the suitcase. This photo is from when he was “helping” me pack to leave San Francisco myself. Now Mike is the one packing to leave SF. In another month he’ll come join me here for some traveling in Europe and to either help keep me sane as I write my thesis or to witness me losing my mind depending on how things go. It all sounds great, except the part where we can’t bring Max with us. I know he wouldn’t really enjoy lots of flights and train rides and hostel stays in Europe and that this is the best option but it doesn’t stop me from freaking out a bit right now -even though he isn’t even in the air yet! …Its going to be a long day.
